Making landscape pictures is not for the faint of heart. Up early, often in the dark, lots of hiking, sometimes in the rain and cold, sometimes scrambling up the side of steep mountains. All in the hope of getting to a specific place and bringing back a picture.
If you get there and nature cooperates you can capture a moment — a feeling — and then share it. You bring back the emotion you felt when the cold rain stopped and the sun broke through. You were there when the clouds parted, and you saw the aqua lake surrounded by snow-covered mountain peaks. If you did your job well, you get to share that emotion with others when you print and frame your picture.
When I take pictures, I'm trying to capture the emotions I feel as I press the shutter button. And, when I print and frame my pictures, I'm trying to share that emotion with you. I don't always succeed, but when I do it's quite a thrill.
Oh, yes. I'm a retired businessman and have taken pictures all of my life.
